Owen Hart Childhood And Early Life

Owen Hart, a member of the famous wrestling Hart family, was born on May 7, 1966, in the province of Alberta in Canada. His mother, Helen Hart, was a housewife, and his father, Stu Hart, was a former wrestler. The Hart family was large, and Owen grew up with 11 siblings, some of whom went on to have successful wrestling careers.

His Greek ancestry came from his maternal grandmother, while his Irish heritage was passed down to him through his maternal grandfather. His father had Scottish and German ancestry, in addition to being mostly of Scots-Irish descent. Hart was a dual citizen of Canada and the United States due to the fact that his mother, Helen, was born in New York.

According to Owen’s wife’s book, “Broken Harts,” he initially had no interest in being a professional wrestler, but, against his better judgement, he persisted in training throughout middle and high school in order to fulfill his father’s expectations.

By the time Owen graduated from high school, he had already developed into a beast of a wrestler, thanks to his father Stu’s advice on how to succeed in the ring. Owen tried his hand at a number of different careers before deciding to pursue wrestling, but none of them fit him. Eventually, he accepted his fate and joined Stampede wrestling, which is managed by his father.

Owen Hart’s Career In Wrestling

Hart first developed his wrestling skills in the amateur category while still in high school, where he also met his wife, Martha. Owen Hart did not initially plan to have a career in wrestling; as Martha stated in her book Broken Harts, Owen made repeated attempts to find a vocation other than wrestling that would provide him with a prosperous life. However, later in his wrestling career, Owen Hart began competing for his father’s company, Stampede Wrestling, which at the time was on the verge of collapse and no longer enjoyed the same level of respect within the wrestling industry as it once did.

Owen and other members of the Hart family did everything they could to revive it, but nothing they did was successful. In the ring, Owen used it as a training ground to develop his techniques, and he finally won international tag team titles. In the first couple of years of his career, he also held the titles of North American Heavyweight Championship and British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Title.

Owen was successful at New Japan Pro wrestling in 1987 thanks to his high-flying combat style and his reliance on technique more than raw muscle. He succeeded in defeating notable opponents there, becoming the first wrestler from a country other than Japan to hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in May 1988.

Hart performed admirably in his early WWF outings, but with time, his opponents grew to dislike his style, and he suffered a number of losses. For the next few years, Owen split his time between Japan and the USA for various organizations, and in October 1991, WWF decided to sign him again. He was reintroduced, this time without the mask, and he entered the arena with new talents and maneuvers, gaining the nickname “The Rocket.” His biggest triumph came at Wrestlemania 8 in 1992 when he defeated Skinner. After that, he joined forces with Koko B. Ware to form a team.
